Initially, the PC version didn't have a release date, but Naughty Dog later confirmed it would arrive on March 3, 2023. The studio also revealed a first for The Last of Us franchise: a PC port. However, Naughty Dog announced the series would make its way to PC, with a release slated for March. The games were initially limited to PlayStation consoles only. Its popularity spawned a PS4 remaster in 2014, a sequel in 2020, and a remake for current-gen hardware in 2022. Lastly, there’s more clothes for Joel and Ellie to wear, there’s permadeath and speedrun modes, and there’s more accessibility features taken from TLOU 2.Something to look forward to: Initially launched on the PlayStation 3 in 2013, The Last of Us has been a wildly successful franchise. Combat behaviour has also received a significant overhaul with more dynamic encounters. In addition, Escayg has said that the world feels more alive with subtle details including cars wobbling when players land on them, and 3D audio better representing sounds like car windows shattering from gunfire. Per PlayStation Lifestyle, the game’s director, Shaun Escayg, has said that it’s a remake and not a remaster because Naughty Dog ‘ completely redesigned everything from the art direction, lighting, technology to the character designs themselves‘. Some people assume the forthcoming retelling is a remaster because it only appears to have better graphics from a superficial glance, but Naughty Dog has explained why it’s a remake. There was a remaster of TLOU on PS4 released back in 2014, and this is even available to play at no additional cost for PS Plus Extra and Premium subscribers.
